A sequel to Nyakori’s Rabbit Doll, Nyaruru Fishy Fight — also known as 咸鱼喵喵 in Chinese — is a premium platforming title where you play as the cat girl Nyaruru. Here, she wakes up to find the townspeople and the cats transformed into cat girls and vicious monsters, respectively.

Given the powerful bosses in Nyaruru Fishy Fight, unraveling the origins of this peculiar occurrence is not easy. Hence, players have to utilize Nyaruro’s abilities, equip the most appropriate accessories, and study attack patterns for a more manageable boss fight. Unfortunately, some areas in the game are forgettable, and the dialogue has grammatical errors, too.

Slay enemies using your fish

Nyaruru Fishy Fight’s story begins when the titular character finds out that everyone in town has cat ears and tails. Being a cat girl herself, humans-turned-catgirls Charlotte, Lucia, and Meika thought Nyaruru was the culprit behind their transformation. At this point, Nyaruru sets out on a quest to unearth the origins behind this strange phenomenon — all while battling monsters and bosses, traversing labyrinthine areas, and maintaining her friendship with other characters.

Throughout the game, Nyaruru is equipped with a fish — wielding it like a sword to strike down unfortunate foes.  She can execute a variety of attacks, too. Depending on the button combination, the player can unleash devastating combos on enemies or launch them into the air. Nyaruru can also ride a skateboard to make her hitbox even smaller. Don’t forget to collect cat coins, as well.

With the aforementioned currency, Nyaruru can purchase a myriad of items from the vending machine like cabbages to restore a bit of health. Of course, part of the game is improving her survivability and combat skills. The cat catcher, for instance, helps boost the protagonist’s maximum health, whereas the cat scratcher improves her skills’ damage. Not to worry, though, because you can learn new abilities by using gemstones.

For gamers who love anything cute

Overall, Nyaruru Fishy Fight is a cute game with an adorable cast. The boss fights are one of the main highlights of this title, requiring players to observe patterns and use everything at their disposal to win. The game touches on friendship, as well. However, the grammatical errors in the dialogue as well as the forgettable areas are the game’s drawbacks.
